Pandamania is the online-based sequel to Tower Defence. In Pandamania, your role is more than just defending the grounds against waves of enemy soldiers. You’ll also have to strategise on where to send your strongest troops so that you can claim territory for yourself. As you make progress in-game, you’ll find yourself earning more money and eventually advancing to level 40, where you’ll be tasked with defending against waves of waves and other missions.
So, what’s so great about pandamania? Like most games based on history’s great battles, the overall storyline revolves around a conflict that affects one of the two protagonists. In this case, the story turns out to be Washington D.C., and during the 1860’s, Abraham Lincoln passes away and becomes the first President of the United States. Two years later, the Union is invaded by the Confederates, and Lincoln is shot and killed. Two years after that, Union troops loyal to him surrender to the Confederates, and now these men must work together to restore the Union. This war, though it seems like it goes on forever, ends when Lincoln is re-elected as President of the United States.
From the standpoint of game play, the storyline is interesting enough to keep gamers interested throughout the duration of play. The graphics and effects are fairly well done. However, it’s not the kind of artwork we’d expect from a game which aims to launch a virtual pandamania – the virtual pandas in question are actually washable Panda bears. It might just be a case of fitting the final art exhibition that the game will have to have, but it’s a good one, and by all accounts pandas are a cute addition to the virtual world of Waking Life: The Pandamania.
